The first step a woman in an abusive environment must take to survive the domestic violence she is being subjected to is to seek shelter away from the person abusing her.  For some it’s as simple as a friend giving them the shelter they need to break away from the violence in their home.  Others must seek shelters set up specifically for women in abusive situations.  Unfortunately many women get turned away from shelters because there is no room.  This is unacceptable.
